The leader board is a ranking of all the players that are in the currently active in the current season. As of writing this, we have started Season 7. Here is a link to the current leader board on the h1z1 site. Here's a link to Pre-Season 7 rewards.
I found the explanation of the break down of the points system a little lacking. So I have done some research and found the details that I felt were missing.
